Jamie Okuma

As early as Jamie Okuma can remember her life has been in the art world in one way or another. After high school Okuma took a few graphic design classes at Palomar collage in San Marcos, CA before attending the Institute of American Indain Arts in Santa Fe, NM. From the age of 18 she has been a professional artist compleatly devoted to her art. Showing at the Heard indian market in Phoenix,Az and the Santa Fe Indian Art Market in Santa Fe, NM. In total shes has gardnered a total of five Best in Show awards. Two from the Heard and three from the Santa Fe Indian Market, one of only two artists ever to achieve since its inception.

Since that time her work has been shown in Germany, Australia, France and many art instiutions and museums through out the United States including the Metropoitan Museum of Art in New York City. Okuma has work in the permant collections of the Nelson-Atkins Museum, the Minnapolis Institute of Art and the Smithsonians National Museum of the American Indian.
