Joyce de Gruiter

‘A woman with good shoes is never ugly’, said Coco Chanel.

Designer Joyce de Gruiter can agree fully with that statement. Since the eighties she has worked as a photographer, was co-owner of art gallery Stelling, graphic designer, gold gilder in a restoration studio and now she designs and manufactures her own shoe collection Shoes 2 Make U Happy. Shoes not to wear, but to admire. Architectural forms that, through playful and sometimes ironic additions, undergo a metamorphosis. These shoe sculptures of wood, mixed media and resin are plated with 23.5 karat gold leaf, finished with pearlescent pigments and chromed and included in art collections national and international.

A motley collection of styles, materials and workmanship. High Heels as a special form of art.
