The Ostrich

Liesel Swart

A hand crafted high heeled sneaker made for the exhibithion ‘Hand Made: Long Live Crafts’ at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen museum, 2013.

Material: Ostrich leg, Chicken leg, Cowhide and Salmon leather.

These small pieces of “left over” leather are very good material to make sneakers. These waste materials are clear examples of residual waste from the Cow and Chicken meat industry. And Salmon skins are often discarded.
