La Guerre de Tibet
Third year assignment 2012, choose an ethnical shoe and create a replica, then design a collection of 4 pairs of shoes -in this case with a reference to the ethnical replica-, for the Academy of Fine Arts in Sint-Niklaas Belgium (SASK).
After travelling through Asia for several months, Sofie got inspired by the Tibetan culture, history and society. She first created a replica of a traditional Tibetan boot, the Sombha, and afterwards a collection of 4 pairs of army boots with Tibetan influences. Each boot represents another phase in the war (preparation, attack, chaos and triumph) and is made of different kinds of black leather with messing covered heels.
