Vienna Crazy Shoe Award 2016

The Vienna State Guild of shoemakers and orthopedic shoemakers, will hand out the ‘The Crazy Shoe Award 2016’ in Vienna on April 28. Europe sure needs more crazy shoes, so you (when based in Europe) are invited to join the competition and send in your registration form until February 1 2016. The ‘Crazy Shoe’ must be received by March 10 2016.


Award for the Crazy Shoe 2016 Vienna: conditions for participation:

Organizer
Vienna State Guild of shoemakers and orthopedic shoemakers, Rudolf Sallinger-Platz 1, 1030 Vienna, Austria.

Purpose and goal
The creativity and skill of the profession is to be demonstrated in order to draw attention to the international proficiency of the craft of shoemaking.

Participants
All establishments’ shoemakers, shoe designers, shoe manufacturers from Europe.

Authorizing the participation of the piece
The shoe design must be wearable (women size 35-41, men’s size 39-47) and must be made by the participant.

Number of competition entries
Each participant may only submit one pair of ‘Crazy Shoes’.

Registration
The registration form must be received until February 1 2016 (at Vienna State Guild of shoemakers and orthopedic shoemakers, Rudolf Sallinger-Platz 1, 1030 Vienna).

Participation costs
None.

Accommodation and travel costs for the finalists, as well as additional costs of any other persons attending the shoemaker’s ball in 2015 are to be paid by the participants.

Submission of the ‘Crazy Shoe’’
The ‘Crazy Shoe’ must be received by March 10 2016 (at Vienna State Guild of shoemakers, Rudolf Sallinger-Platz 1, 1030 Vienna)
with a description of the ‘Crazy Shoe’ (idea description, materials used, labor intensity) with photos of the working steps (jpg file). The images are shown at the ceremony in a digital photo frame. Late arrivals will not come in the standings and will be returned.

Evaluation, selection and jury
The 1st Evaluation of the submissions will be carried out on March 15, 2016 by a panel of experts and laymen, and in the presence of a lawyer. The evaluation and selection of shoes by the Jury is based on a point system. The top 15 pairs of shoes go on to the final round on April 28, 2016 as part of the ceremony, in the Studio 44. The final round will be conducted by a panel of experts and prominent figures from politics and art, and in the presence of a lawyer. The selection of shoes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be made on a point system. The Jury’s decision is final. Jury members may not participate in the contest.

Notification of the nominated participant
The participant will be notified on March 16, 2016 by email, that he/she is among the 15 nominated participants. The nominated participant must report to us via email or phone his commitment or his cancellation no later than March 24, 2016. If the deadline expires, the next highest participant is re-nominated.

Presence of the participant
The nominated participant must be present for the final round on April 28, 2016 or send a representative. If the nominee or his representative is not present, the Crazy Shoe is removed from the competition!

Presentation of participation piece
The nominated participant must demonstrate his shoe at the finals on April 28, 2016 himself or he has to bring a person to demonstrate the shoes.
The practice will take place before the ceremony, the participants will be informed on March 16, 2016 about the beginning of the practice.

Prizes
As part of the ceremony, on April 28 2016 in the Studio 44 the top three pairs of shoes will be awarded with a winning trophy, certificates and a prize.
1. Prize in worth of € 1.500,-
2. Prize in worth of € 750,-
3. Prize in worth of € 350,-

More information
Submissions received that do not come in the finals will be sent back after the ceremony by the Vienna State Guild of shoemakers. The transport costs will be covered by the Vienna State Guild of shoemakers.

The 15 best shoes are presented a year in Vienna Shoe Museum, 1080 Vienna, Florianigasse 66, and will be sent back in end-April 2017 by the Vienna State Guild of shoemakers. The transport costs will be covered by the Vienna State Guild of shoemakers. The 15 best shoes contestants will receive an honourable invite from the Vienna State Guild of shoemakers (valid for 2 people) for the ceremony, on April 28, 2016 in the Studio 44. Accommodation and travel costs for the finalists, as well as additional costs are to be paid by the participants. Please indicate on the registration form if you come alone or with an extra person.
