[description] => StrawberryFrog Amsterdam, the award-winning international advertising agency, has created a giant 'city in a sneaker' sculpture called the Electric Light Shoe, which is the dramatic centerpiece for Onitsuka Tiger's integrated global brand campaign for 2008.

The campaign was inspired by the Tokyo cityscape, which is visually stunning and energetic perfect for Ontisuka Tiger. StrawberryFrog was looking for an idea rather than an individual ad campaign, something that would draw people in and excite them across all media touchpoints. The sculpture has inspired numerous executions from classic print and outdoor, to viral film and retail and even drove the design of new product.

The Electric Light Shoe takes center stage in a StrawberryFrog-produced 30-second animation that takes the viewer on a journey through the sneaker. The film opens in a contemporary Japanese bedroom and from there the viewer is whisked away on a magical journey through the sculpture bustling neon-lit streets, past traffic, metro trains, skyscrapers and cranes. It sweeps to a halt in front of the Electric Light Show leaving the viewer to watch from afar as the city in a sneaker goes about its business [keywords] => [thumbnail] => ElectricTigerLand-t.jpg [p_ids] => ) [thumbnail] => image Object ( [path] => files/ElectricTigerLand-t.jpg [directory] => files [filename] => ElectricTigerLand-t.jpg [path_original] => files/ElectricTigerLand-t.jpg [filename_original] => ElectricTigerLand-t.jpg [web_path] => files/ ) ) [1] => objekt Object ( [table] => object [primkey] => o_id [db] => db_mysql Object ( [host] => [user] => [pass] => [mysql_link] => Resource id #9 ) [fields] => Array ( [o_id] => 780 [status] => online [object_type] => shoe [name] => High [year] => 2007 [brand] => [location] => [shoe_type] => extreme [focus] => heel, sole [colour_backup] => [colour] => 333333 [material] => virtual [usage] => [sex] => [style] => hi-tec,kinky [description] => [keywords] => [thumbnail] => barthess-t3.jpg [p_ids] => ) [thumbnail] => image Object ( [path] => files/barthess-t3.jpg [directory] => files [filename] => barthess-t3.jpg [path_original] => files/barthess-t3.jpg [filename_original] => barthess-t3.jpg [web_path] => files/ ) ) [2] => objekt Object ( [table] => object [primkey] => o_id [db] => db_mysql Object ( [host] => [user] => [pass] => [mysql_link] => Resource id #9 ) [fields] => Array ( [o_id] => 332 [status] => online [object_type] => shoe [name] => Footloose [year] => 2006 [brand] => Lopullo Sesti [location] => www.lopullosesti.com [shoe_type] => high_heels [focus] => heel, sole [colour_backup] => #9E1224,#666666,#FFFFFF [colour] => 9E1224,666666,FFFFFF [material] => virtual [usage] => [sex] => [style] => hi-tec,transformer [description] => Footloose- adjustable high heels It’s often said that ‘everything has been thought of’. As a designer, I think the opposite is true. As soon as you take a closer look to the world, you notice all things can be improved. The high-heeled shoe is a classic example of a no pain, no gain product. Women wearing them take so much trouble for granted! I decided to challenge this compromise. Would it be possible to make a shoe having all advantages of high heels, just as well as the comfort of flats? I designed a shoe with a high heel, which can be changed into a shoe with a low heel. No more extra pairs of shoes in your bag, no more trouble driving a car or walking stairs, no more painful feet, no more knee and ankle damage… For such a product to be a serious alternative for regular heels it has to be mechanically and ergonomical-ly sound, and moreover: it has to have allure! The character of this shoe is in the heel shape. It has separate tips for both positions. While being used in one position, the other heel tip is kept out of sight in and opening in the sole. The shoe is being transformed with a simple and quick movement: one just pulls the heel downwards to release it, after which it can be folded in or out as preferred. The adjustment of the heel position automatically changes the curvature of the sole to fit the altered shape of the foot. This mechanism has been patented. ZHAN Project (2005)

While I was living in Barcelona I heard that CAMPER was looking for young designers to join their design studio in Mallorca.

As I didn't have any shoes designed within my portfolio I decided to develop a project that would follow the company's Philosophy while giving it an added value.

Traveling and storage was the main focus on the project.

The result is a pair of shoes that incorporates an assembly system in its soles, solving the problem of carrying them while travelling; storing them when you don't have enough space in your room and even exhibiting them in stores.

The possibilities of assembly are almost endless.

The project presented here shows only one of the many possible systems.

Shoes can be assembled sideways by straight rails; with positive and negative 'check board' like soles assembled as puzzle, etc.

As the solution is only applied on the soles, any kind of shoe can be developed with this system (men's shoes, women's, kids, sport, etc.) giving us the opportunity to explore and enrich this project even more.

Virtual Shoe Museum : Virtual
Home of the Virtual Show Museum

Please read our Terms and conditions for using this website.

The Virtual Shoe Museum was initiated by Liza Snook in 2004. Once the idea was born, a long search began for designers, photographers and publishers connected to shoes. New friendships developed and our mailbox filled with loads of material on fantastic shoes, art and design on shoes.

And finally, with the help of Taco Zwaanswijk of Interactive Affairs, who designed the site, and Bart van der Ploeg of Resolume, who programmed the database and created the content management system, we're live! And proud! And we're only just beginning...

If you have any questions about the collection, or leads on shoes or designers, please let us know. Also, we're interested in your opinion on the collection and your experiences in the museum. You can contact the Virtual Shoe Museum by mail: Liza@VirtualShoeMuseum.com.

The Virtual Shoe Museum has different 'perspectives' on a shoe or object. These perspectives (designer, focus, colour, material, etc) show related objects and thus ways to navigate the collection.

The left column of the screen contains the main navigation. Each perspective contains several 'rooms'. Each room contains thumbnails of the objects it contains (on the right side of the screen). Choose any to view this object.

On an object's page, below the image, you can view more images, video and text (if available). Above the thumbnails, you find a list showing all the rooms this object belongs to. Here you can wander the rooms and find related objects.
