This pair of shoes is made (in 2012) of fragile 2 mm sheets of tanganika wood. Using a structure following the natural distribution of weight in the foot, the design manages to support a person using a limited amount of material. There is for example, a higher concentration of pieces where the heel and metatarsus are supported.
Each piece is carefully handcrafted, to elaborate a structure using multiple modules. Every module is cut with precision so that the direction of the wood lines converge in a geometric visual pattern and at the same time the structure is reinforced.
