Exhibition HOUT Couture

The International Wooden Shoe Museum is reopening March 26 till October 30 2022.

In 2020 the The International Wooden Shoe Museum in Eelde, NL was celebrating its 30th anniversary and the museum arranged a special exhibition called HOUT (WOOD) Couture. Haute Couture is usually clothing, however here it’s the shoes that complete the look, the icing on the cake, an anniversary not to be missed. Due to Covid the museum was closed for some time, but now its time to re-open!

This exhibition shows that wooden footwear is of all times and certainly not only made in The Netherlands. International contemporary shoe designers such as Katharina Beilstein (Germany), Jo Cope (UK), Iqra Mano (Pakistan) and Pavlina Miklasova (Czech Republic) amongst many others, will show their footware next to Dutch designers Viktor&Rolf, Marloes ten Bhömer, Denise Rosenboom and many others.

The exhibition is supplemented with clogs and beautiful wooden footwear from the museum’s own rich collection. All in all, HOUT couture is a unique exhibition with an impressive appearance, suitable for the red carpet. View the virtual tour here.
