The Winding Volutes collection is characterized by organic shapes whose sinuous and winding lines are at the same time ornamental and structural. Various suggestions contributed to its elaboration, derived from nature’s world observed through the interpretation that, since mid-nineteenth century, art, graphic and architecture gave of its morphogenetic process.
A similar process is conveyed in my project through shapes resulting from a flat surface. Moulded from complex patterns, observable in the next page, the surface becomes a volume when curved, folded, wrapped on itself. It is therefore emphasized the essential role of movements, instead of cuts or sewing, in defining three-dimensional shapes: I summarized these phases through the keywords wrapping, scrolling and folding.
