Re-Structured

Third year assignment 2013, choose an ethnical shoe and create a replica, then design a collection of 4 pairs of shoes, for the Academy of Fine Arts in Sint-Niklaas Belgium (SASK).

Part of the collection ‘Woodhide geometries’, laser cut wood on leather, 2013.

I chose this theme because of my interest in architectural trends such as Art Deco and my love for the Scandinavian interior design.

This sandal was based on a geometric drawing regularly found in the art-deco movement. The shoe consists of different layers. The wooden sapelli rays all begin at one central point, which creates elegance. Here, the wood is combinated with blond gold, mimosa yellow and a spicy detail of persian green in the heel.
